I just found this cool opensource project called Rockbox. They are designing opensource firmware for popular mp3 players like the the Ipod and players from iRiver and Archos. Be warned: you will most likely violate your warranty if you overwrite the manufacurer’s firmare to add this new firmware. The more options people have the better.
