Socialist vs. Libertarian

In todays political climate too many people throw around the labels “conservative” and “liberal” like those two words mean something. These two words are variables that change over time. Generally speaking liberals want change and conservatives would like stability and the status quo. I am personally sick of these two labels and would like people to start using labels that actually describe the politicians in a way that is easier to understand to the laymen. Libertarian and Socialist do this better than conservative or liberal. All I want to know is: are you for civil liberties and less government (libertarian) or more government control and distributed wealth (socialist)? When politicians are correctly labeled it is easier to see who stands where.

By the way I’m a libertarian. If I’m not bothering you why should the government tell me what to do?
